Many people yearn for poetry and distant places, and Professor Xu, who was on the rise in his career, was no exception. As a doctor studying liver disease, Professor Xu did not pay much attention to the medical examination results that were diagnosed as hemangioma many times. "At that time, I felt that there was still a lot to do and I didn't want to get a tumor," Professor Xu said, "Most people have a mentality that favors good results, and I am no exception." However, during an accidental PET-CT in 2006, the doctor gave him a shocking test result, "You have early-stage liver cancer." Suddenly I discovered that I had cancer, and it was cholangiocarcinoma, the more malignant form of liver cancer.

 

There are many types of cancer, and different locations or stages may take different times to develop. Because of their hidden nature, many cancers take a long time to form, which may be five or six years, or more than ten or twenty years. For example, pancreatic cancer takes about ten years to form, and intestinal cancer mostly takes 25 years to form. Liver cancer usually takes about 10 to 20 years, which easily causes many patients to miss the chance of early cure. Professor Xu reminded that early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment are the keys to a good prognosis for cancer. 03The treatment concept of “coexisting with cancer”

 

 

After discovering that he had cancer, Professor Xu did some research. According to the literature, the 5-year survival rate of patients with cholangiocarcinoma after surgery is only about 5%, and the latest literature shows that according to conventional standard treatment, patients with cholangiocarcinoma have a 5-year survival rate of only about 5%. The "median survival period" after radiotherapy and chemotherapy is only 19 months. For this reason, Professor Xu looked down upon life and death and put down the burden of life. Generally speaking, surgical treatment is the first choice for early-stage cancer. Chemotherapy is effective for: lymphoma, ovarian cancer, breast cancer, small cell lung cancer, intestinal cancer, testicular cancer, childhood leukemia, neuroblastoma, and rhabdomyosarcoma;
